Rachel received her bachelors degree in horn performance from James Madison University. She earned her masters degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), where she is a doctoral candidate in horn performance with cognate studies in arts administration. While in Cincinnati, Rachel was an active freelance musician throughout the tristate, performing with the Richmond (IN), Kentucky, Lima, Ohio Valley, and Columbus (OH) symphonies, Orchestra Kentucky, and the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra.
Rachel has over a decade of teaching experience, maintaining private studios in Ohio and Virginia. At CCM, she held Teaching Assistantships in the music theory department and the horn studio. She completed administrative internships with Cincinnati chamber music ensemble Concert:Nova, and OrchKids, an el sistema-inspired program in Baltimore, MD.
Rachel has served in a teaching, administrative, and volunteer capacity with several sistema-inspired programs across the united states. In the summer of 2012, she was the Acting Program Director of MYCincinnati, a sistema-inspired program in Cincinnati's Price Hill neighborhood. She is a current member of the 2012-2013 Sistema Fellows program at New England Conservatory.
