To achieve its mission, the program will:

• Provide Access to Music Education

Students will be given daily, high-quality instruction in ensemble-based music that features engaging, passionate instruction and incorporates diverse cultural traditions.

• Celebrate Music Through Performance

Students will gain poise and confidence through frequent performance opportunities. By experiencing the joy of sharing music with others, students will also be intrinsically motivated to continue refining their musical skills.

• Support Character Development and Social Skills                                  By encouraging student mentorship and peer teaching, students will have the opportunity to develop leadership, communication, and other essential life skills.

  • Develop Community Engagement                                                        Parents, school staff, and the community at-large will be included in frequent student performances and informances, as well as a Community Connections concert series.

• Nurture the Whole Child
  

El Sistema Somerville believes that young people need to be supported in all aspects of their development. For this reason, academic, social, and musical growth are valued and supported within the weekly activities of the program.
